Repair Service

Band instrument repair is a highly specialized trade. It requires professional technicians with specific skills and knowledge. Repairing band instruments is more than just cleaning, adjusting and servicing; it is about expertise; something learned the old fashioned way through hard work and dedication.

Musicare has this expertise. Our technicians are trained. Our repair tools are specialized and unique to our trade. Customization is part of our work. We have the skills to fabricate new tools and fixtures to make parts or assemblies to accommodate a musician’s needs.

We repair all woodwind, brasswind and percussion instruments as well as some string, fretted and electronic instruments.

Repair estimate surcharges are waved when the repair work is completed in our shop.

In addition, we repair instrument cases, music stands and custom weld broken aluminum or steel metal components commonly found on larger percussion instruments.

We stock both new and recycled replacement parts. Over the years, we have collected several hundred used and vintage instruments that provide an instant resource for the hard to find “part.”

Ultrasonic Cleaning

Musicare Inc., was first to introduce band instrument ultrasonic cleaning to the Ottawa area.

Our tank is designed to clean everything from the smallest piccolo to the largest tuba. We use this cleaning process to clean instrument bodies, valves, slides, necks, keys and mouthpieces.

Ultrasonic cleaning removes grease, slime, buffing compound, saliva, acids and other harmful agents. Aside from all the important hygienic properties ultrasonic cleaning offers, Musicare data shows that wind instruments regularly cleaned in our ultrasonic tank perform better and last longer.

For brasswinds we recommend ultrasonic cleaning once a year as the cleaning process will help keep the mouthpipe or leadpipe free of “red rot” caused by saliva.
