Band Instrument Ultrasonic Cleaning

Musicare was the first to introduce ultrasonic cleaning to the Ottawa area. Since the 2002 installation, we have cleaned over 250K of school-owned, private and rental instruments. Debris is removed by setting a specific frequency and timing allowing the solution to penetrate every “nook and cranny” of the instrument or component. (Wood bodies excepted) Components include body sections, keys, rods, screws, necks and mouthpieces – brass and plastic.

We accommodate instrument sizes from piccolos to large tubas. The system cleans all brass, nickel, silver plate, gold plate and sterling silver, as well as plastic bodies and mouthpieces. We use special formulated, non-harmful, environmentally friendly detergents.

Cleaning removes saliva deposits, calcium, buffing compounds, acids, grease, and more — instruments play “more freely” after a cleaning. If you are an active player, we suggest cleaning your instrument once a year. If you put the instrument away for extended storage, it should be cleaned and serviced. Brass instrument cleaning includes replacement of new felts, waterkey corks, springs, tuning slide lubrication and for woodwinds, parts according to the service-repair involved.
