Serial: 68194
Vintage professional French-made model. Serial #: 68194. Circa early 1957. One of the most desirable models of the vintage Selmer offerings is an early generation MKVI with a silver finish, 5-digit serial number and no high F# key. It has the original silver-plated finish; it is heavily tarnished throughout but has no wear or plating loss. There is slight pitting on the low D key cup surface and slight scratches from normal wear and tear. The neck and keywork are original without damage, alterations or swedging (swaging). The body is straight, the bell brace is perfectly shaped & aligned, and the tone holes show no signs of filing.
There are no structural repairs other than soldering to two of the low C keyguard flanges (pictured). No dents or any signs of dent removal. This horn is 100% playable and well set up. A professional repad was done some time ago and has faired well; there is some water staining and discoloration on some pads; however, they are all sealing and still have a reasonable life expectancy. A professional tune-up was done pre-listing to guarantee optimal playability. The neck is original (no serial number) and has no damage or pull-down. The neck cork is brand new, and the tenon socket fit is perfect. The genuine Selmer wood shell case is in excellent condition with just typical exterior scuffs. The latches are all functional, and both handles are intact, with minimal wear on loop ends. The original latch key is included. This horn has been in storage and untouched for some time; although very well cared for and always professionally maintained, there is a very slight musty smell from sitting. No concern of mould or mildew; however, a slight odour is observed for full disclosure. There is no mouthpiece or accessories. Ready to Play.
