Ultrasonic Cleaning
Concerned for the health and safety of public shared instruments, Musicare invested in ultrasonic cleaning in 2002.
This is an example of a trumpet leadpipe that never received proper cleaning. Saliva acids have eaten right through the brass. A term we call “red-rot.”
Our cleaning tank accommodates instrument sizes from small piccolos to large tubas.

When using traditional detergent cleaning methods, getting to every crevice of the instrument is nearly impossible, meaning dirt and grime will continue to build up in those areas and may affect performance and shorten the instrument’s lifespan.
Ultrasonic cleaning involves fully submerging the instrument in cleaning fluid, allowing the ultrasonic force to reach every part of the instrument’s surface, inside and out. The drying process avoids the risk of corrosion, so the instrument stays in top shape longer.
Ultrasonic cleaning is safe for many delicate components and avoids harsh chemicals. In addition, it removes oxidation, calcium, grease, and other deposits on brass instruments and plastic bodies.

FAQ’s
When I send my school band instruments to you for repair, are the mouthpieces also cleaned??
Yes, mouthpieces are cleaned separately and air-tight sealed. No extra charge.
If you clean my trumpet, what happens to the felts and corks?
We replace all the waterkey corks and measure the internal valve heights and replace the old internal and valve cap felts with new correct thickness sized felts to match port openings.
